Employees Settle with Master Food and Possible Problems for CAMBA Gardens (UPDATED)

Two news items related to our area:

1. Master Food near the corner of Church and Nostrand Avenues reached a $300,000 settlement with employees for wage theft. The employer also signed a union contract as part of the agreement, giving workers paid vacation and sick leave for the first time and presumably compensating them for overtime. 2. A Huffington Post article suggesting that budget talks in Congress could cause problems for CAMBA Gardens, a project we wrote about in July.

UPDATE: According to this Brooklyn Eagle article, the CAMBA Gardens project is moving forward, after a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday.
