Series of Sexual Assaults Reported in our Area
This article in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle points to a sexual assault and rape (by two men) of a young woman in our neighborhood and to a series of sexual assaults on young girls in the same general area.
Police have arrested a subject in the assaults on young girls, but the rape suspects remain at large.
One additional note about the article: the subhead describes these as happening in the "Ditmas Park Area." Obviously, this is wrong, but the more important thing is that it points the need for a proper name for our neighborhood. It's not as if I want us to show up in crime reports all the time, but I do think that articles like this probably tend to help draw support for policing in the place that's named—in this case, Ditmas Park—when we really, really need it here in . . . Flatbush, which is what the city calls us.
